George Clooney’s Wife is Uncompromising in the Film ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?’

Do you remember the 2000 film  ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?‘? Well, I do. It was one of my favorite films from my youth. The movie starred George Clooney, as convict Everett, and Holly Hunter as Penny, his estranged wife. Besides the great songs and hilarious adventures that tickled me pink, I spotted a Female Led Relationship.

At the beginning of the film Everett is seen breaking out of prison with two other inmates. He promised them that he had a treasure map and he would split it with them if they agreed to break out of prison with him. Although we later learn that he lied about the treasure, their hilarious and sometimes magical adventures laid the groundwork for lots of laughter. This movie was awesome on its own but it was his first encounter with Penny after the prison break that led me to believe he was in a Female Led Relationship.

Even after Everett continued on to become ‘bonified’ and won the right to reunite with his family, she tasked him to find her engagement ring that had been lost in a flood of some sort and was buried in a chest in huge mass of water that he considered impossible to locate. But he tried his best, and he found it!

To some her reaction may seem a little callous, after all the man did break out prison, risk his life, was robbed, beaten and about to be hanged- all to get back to her. Penny didn’t care. She set her standards for the type of man she wanted and she required that he become that man. She set her standards for the ring she wanted and she would not settle for anything less.

Most women would be swept up in emotion at the effort a man showed to secure her desires but women in Female Led Relationships aren’t satisfied with mere effort; they want RESULTS.
